First, I appreciate any help offered. I've already looked over the message board here and through the manual and everything else. So far, to no avail.
Here's my problem: I've been playing several ROMs and, aside from F-Zero X, all of them have constant dips in FPS. As well, all of their audio jitters like a skipping cd. These problem games are Mario Kart, NBA Hangtime, WCW-NWO Revenge, Smash Bros., SW Shadows of the Empire, Body Harvest... and a few others. They all dip to around 15-30 FPS, usually when moderate-to-heavy action occurs; for instance, in Mario Kart, when more than two racers are on screen, the FPS dips; or, in Shadows of the Empire, the closer you get to enemies, the more the FPS drops.
I've tried numerous alterations to the settings. Like playing with resolution, sync'ing audio and not. Antialiasing is off, and so is antisotropic filtering in the graphic configuration tab. I've tried turning audio off. Of course, I have no other programs running in the background when I run project 64. Nothing has worked to fix the massive FPS drops. SNES, Genesis Roms, and regular PC games all work fine on my system... just not N64 ROMs.
My specs are:
Pentium 4 1.7 Ghz
Windows XP (SP1)
640 SDRAM
ATI Radeon 9200 (with latest driver)
Direct Xc
Again, any help that anyone can offer is much appreciated. Thanks.
