ah forget it you're not going to actually try the game, just don't knock it until you've tried it
Where did I knock the game? I said it had a design flaw. I also said it was probably a good game. Fuck man, I really want to play it. That's why I'm so pissed off.

you're not being forced into anything, you're just being a dick
So your argument ran out and you decided to insult me instead. That's a mature attitude for a moderator.

fuck you bitch you weren't listening (well reading but you didn't get the idea)

Nintendo paid square via GameDesigner Studios to make an RPG that used the GBA to prove that good games could be made that used it and to encourage other developers to use it they didn't do it to sell GBA's they did it to prove the concept, although some have theorised they also did it to sell GameCubes but considering Silicon Knights were working on Twin Snakes I doubt that.

they made the game to prove a concept, and make a bit of money since they know most Nintendo diehards will own both a GBA and a Gamecube already, and are likely to buy the first FF game on a Nintendo console since the SNES.

you can bitch all you want about it but FF is the perfect vehicle to prove the GBA/GC link up can be put to good use

So what you're saying is, the game has been has features that require an extra addon that I don't want. What would I do with a GBA? It's got a few good games, but nothing that says "Spend £100 on me!". And hey: if I was going to get one, it would damn well be an SP - what's the point in buying that hardware without any lighting?

What gets to me, is that Nintendo are asking me to pay £40+£100 for this game, myself (which is bad enough), but then I'm going to have to convince a friend to spend £40/100 (plus cable), just so we can play 2 player. Fuck that.

Opinion on this is divided clearly into two camps: those who have a GBA already who are saying "come on, stop whining, it's a good game", and those who don't who are saying "why the fuck should I buy something I don't want just to play this game?". I accept it's a good game, now tell me why I should be forced to buy obsolete unwanted hardware just to get the most out of it.

How the fuck is GBA obsolete and unwanted hardware? I'd like to see you put a GameCube with a screen and controller in your pocket, pull it out during a bus ride, and play it for a few hours...

Because its just so old and boring and lacks any innovation at all. Damn Tag I thought someone with your hardware knowledge would be smarter than this =|

The hell?

There's plenty of innovation in there.

Granted a lot of it gets swallowed up by SNES remakes... but it's there.

Here, have a sample. ::throws Mega Man: Battle Network at vampireuk::

And the only problem with its hardware is a severely pathetic sound chip.

Doomulation

?????????????????????????
Whatever the argument, the fact still reamins...for those that do not have a gba and wants to play multiplayer on FF:CC are screwed unless they get a GBA. And maybe they cannot afford it...or maybe they want the money for something else? Now how about those? They're just totally screwed because of this.

'Tis a shame, really.

It's not dissapointing to me, because I never expected anything of it.
Still, it's better than all the other Final Fantasies, you can walk more than 3ft without being interrupted by an FMV/hour long random turn-based battle.

A better example would have Boktai for innovation ;)

and the sound chip is quiet sound, it's just the speakers are shit.

No.

The sound chip is horrible.

Most GBA audio is run on the CPU.

Look up the APU's specs. Super NES's completely put it to shame.

I don't care what you say,

the speaker is shit, and it's the main reason the sound is so bad.

I prey, not pray.
In other "lets piss off the target audience" news, the xbox has thrashed the competition in europe :p

Actually it sounds bad even with good headphones. And yes, I have a GBA.

personally I appreciate people giving us their views, but like in most cases, we just don't care

blizz, it wouldn't be a forum if opinions were not appreciated. Logic would say you cared enough to comment how much you don't care... which would be a contradiction. If someone posts something contrary to what you believe, you can post the same. Don't lie about it and say you don't care :)

Best thing to do is go to a Cash Converters/Cash Crusaders/Pawn shop and get a 2nd hand GBA for +-$350.

Correction, meant +-$35.
Yeah, i've been playing this for a while now and, yes, it is a dissapointment. Couldn't get my friends to buy a GBA either, so now I'm sitting with a half-bread singleplayer action/rpg which i'm already bored with after 4 hours of play. If another game is released where you need a GBA to get the most out of it then i'll consider getting that GBA and so will my friends. But, really, buying a GBA for one game (and not even for playing GBA games) is ridiculous!
