I'm not sure if this is Waaay Off-Topic or Tech talk, so I decided I'd put it in Waaay Off just to be safe :)

trillian all the way. Its too much of a processor/memory load to have MSN/AIM/YAHOO!/ICQ all running @ the same time. Who cares if it doesn't support some of the original clients features

What's that...?
all my friends use aim, and like everyone at my university uses aim, so therefore i use aim.

I actually use Trillian Pro.
It has most of the features that the others do, except possibly video and audio.
But there are plugins for most everything else: weather, Winamp2: now playing, pop3, message forwarding, message splitting, etc.

Oh.. and don't forget skins support.

very very very small. Supports both ICQ and MSN (and now YAHOO too). 10th most active sourceforge project atm. did i mention very extensive plugin system?

for those of you thinking of switching, there are plugins to import Trillian, icq, msn contacts..

Trillian all the way, most if not all or more of the features of the orig's, and a condensed interface.

I remember reading about miranda, but I skipped it because of no irc support I think.

Funny, Trillian started out as an IRC client ;)

trillian all the way (i use trillian pro). i cant propagate it often enuff .. why would u wanna use 5 (!) messenger clients at once if u can use one small program for them all?

trillian is the shit ppl, get it.

?????????????????????????
Actually i don't care what i use. And I've got hotmail so i just stick with msn messenger--it's all i need.
And yeah, the xp firewall is shit, get a decent firewall and disable it, since it destroys stuff like file transfers.

Yes, in msn messenger, irc and possible others.

just wanted to clarify:

i use trillian pro, and i use it for everything. even irc, now if only the #romland script would work in trillian... LOL

yes! brotha :p guess you are the other one that voted for others.

i dont understand how people can say that trillian is small when this thing is only 385kb!

anyway, ive heard a few things about an IM (or an IM protocol, not sure) called Jabber. Do any of you know anything about it? good?

i worked with a version of jabber that had integration with aim/msn/yahoo, that was great, but it's interface was not for n00bz, and also, it being open source would get shut down to aol access constantly. trillian doesn't have these problems, oh, and for the record, trillian IS pretty damn small considering it's funcitionality.
