Disable all cheats

Try a new rom

Delete the save game, it could be corrupt.

i run Kirby on PJ64 1.6 with the latest RDB, Jabo's Dx 8 plugin with jabos sound plugin and n-rages input plugin.

Again, people need to stop throwing out this suggestion unless you know the rom is bad. Tell them to check it with GoodN64 first.

would GoodN64 detect file corruption?

You're kind of changing the subject. GoodN64 will detect corrupted roms, but if the rom had suddenly become corrupted (which does happen, though rarely) I assume the user would have said as much.

"The game used to work but now PJ64 says it's not a valid rom."

If that were the case, I'd tell the user to restore a back-up copy, or download it again if they didn't keep a back-up (but everyone has back-ups, right?).

My point earlier was that we don't know if the problem is a bad rom. We should verify that before sending them off to find another copy. Otherwise, they may just download another bad dump. Frankly, we shouldn't provide any help to the original poster until we know what the "error report" is.

good point :p i'll remember to tell them to verify the rom from now on,

hmm.. other reasons...

system doesn't meet the minimum requirements.

user has modified the games rom settings.

That's very poor etiquette; hijacking a thread for your own sake. Don't do it again.

yes i put the rom inside a folder which is the directory PJ64 and when i open it, instead of them all green and showing names they are all black and say run good64 but i did run that program and they all seem fine...

What do you mean they *seem* fine? Were they renamed, and if so what are the new filenames?

none of my roms are black, either green(compatible), teal(unsupported via video plugin) or brown (has issues, either not fully supported or plugin issues)

black usually means either a corrupt rom, and even if they are renamed it would still read the rom headers and show it as its goodn name.

try getting the rom again, it sounds like you got a bad rom
try getting the (U) version with out any other () codes
