many emulators are x32 only, but will still work fine on x64
Emulation benefits little from x64 instructions.

yes but 32bit applications running on 64bit operating system loses 10% performance throught wow64 and i got up to 20% increase in vba-m 64bit and mame up to 30% increase in some roms plus ultra fast load times you could put an entire ps2 or gamecube disc in memory put i dont think the emulators arent optimised enought for this.

thats a load of pure bullcrap, if i've ever heard it.

its not even a 1% hit.

can someone ban this idiot, im sick of his dribbling utter bullcrap, he clearly has no idea what so ever about anything to do with x86_64, or Operating systems themselves.

I have to agree with Squall's eloquent response.

Using 32-bit apps in 64-bit operating systems has zero performance hit. At all.

Another logical fallacy is that VBA-M, as of yet, contains no x64 specific optimizations. Which means, there is pretty much zilch performance gain with using the 64-bit SVN builds currently. If you read our todo list, you will see that we specifically highlighted the need for native 64-bit code.....Because there is none in there currently, except for cases where the code needed to be ported to handle being compiled in a 64 bit form.

i'm sick of the replies he gives, especially towards XBCD, which i know for a fact, doesn't have issues with inaccurate stick movements,.. as long as its calibrated.

i am aware of an issue that occurs with Legend's Gamepad, but damned i've investigated that on a multitude of wired controllers and i can't reproduce it on anything but the one he owns.

then he posts that crap hahahaha, maybe if i wasn't involved with the project he could've pulled that over my head :p

i only benchmarked vba 32bit and 64bit on x64 i didnt test 32bit op and 64bit op diffrences op todo list.
basicely thats my hobby i benchmark the way i benchmark is i work out the average fps for a 2 min gba section then i work out the min FPS then max fps.
20% increase does not mean 20% increase in fps it mean it will run more smoothly. and yes x86 on x64 has bottlenecks these bottlenecks are mainly noticable on high mem apps. 32bit apps on x64 run on a seperate emulated kernel "wow64" similer to 16bit apps on 32bit apps anyways vba benchmark can be innacurrate so results can vary but mame64ui is the only emulator for x64
that i notice a speed increase speciallty in area51 although it has alot of x64 development put into it.
although vba-m it has no x64 optimization it took of the wow bottleneck off making it smoother on x64 machines then 32bit app version. but before for fun i recompiled quake 2 into x64 althought i unlocked quake 2s memory address space but found no speed bumbs but load times were near instant although it did use Alot more memory then the 32bit version in win task manager.

just go away, your just making yourself look even more like an idiot.

Mudlord himself has had the chance to check out differences between x32 and x64, and there are none.

gameboy advance is a 32bit console so 64bit codes wont hardly do anything anyways but if the console was 64bit then it would anyways i posted this thread to find emulators "targeted" for x64 machines. I know quite alot of people who are requesting x64 builds.

I am already aware of the translation layer that Win64 based OSes use. And this layer incurs absolutely no performance hit, due to how it works. Same with the translation layer for 16-bit apps.

Yet another logical fallacy. Sigh.....:saddam:

lol this information is more or less based on early x64 windows build so is innaccurate anyways just forget it. back then i worked a bit on x64 programming with a small team for a while did simple ports but we splitup and stopped,

ha, if that was the case, then PJ64 would be best run on a Athlon-M as the n64 is 2 32bit cores set to work on paralell with each other.
