Emu programming help

Hey,

i was wondering, what type of programming knowledge you emu makers have, because there seams to be only 3 people to an emu with fantastic results, i'm highly interested in programming and as such, could someone point me in the right direction (Maybe a programming language or tutorial of some kinda) of where to start to look at emu making. Thanks.
