http://www.popmatters.com has a big article about emulation up, while some of the emulators he mentions may not be the best ones out there, it's one of his few faults, as well as the mention of 24 hour rom deletion laws, over all it a good article. check it out, im sure everyone knows everything in there already, but still worth a read.

No kidding.

"For SNK-specific fans, there's always been the excellent NeoRagex. Nintendo Entertainment System fans often fancy the NESticle EMU..."

Yikes.

Since when has ZSNES been a favorate? That's something I don't understand, because SNES9X works better and looks better. >.>

Interesting article.. :p

to quote from the last bit of the article "may the grey area continue to remain so." it would stand a lot bigger chance of "staying grey" and "under the radar" if LARGE SITES SUCH AS POPMATTERS DIDN'T REPORT ON IT! geez =-\

IMO, ZSNES is better than SNES9X. With my experience with both emulator I have found that zsnes has better sound and is easier for me to configure. That's just my personal opinion though.

ZSNES has a slightly higher compat, though the interface for SNES9X is a bit nicer.

The only good features of Snes9x is the GUI and SDDD-1 decompression! Apparently it only uses 13-Bit colour for the graphics instead of 15-Bit that ZSNES uses, the sound of Snes9x is terrible due to lack of Gaussian interpolation that the Snes itself uses, and in the 1.42 version the filters are buggy. Not to mention that the netplay isn't in the same league as ZSNES. I personally don't like Snes9x's interface either, it's boring, lacks XP-Theme support and is uncustomisable....
