i got zsnes dos port running almost fullspeed without sound (though with a need of some frameskip added in zsnes)
with sound it lagged a little more and the sound stutterd due to the need of high cpu cycles (i tried with hegitening sound block size and it worked slightly better but still had spmoe stuttering and the game neede much frameskip due to i couldnt have the high cpu cycles)

anyone knows how to run NOVASTORM without sound skips in dosbox?
i searched the official forums, disabled soundblaster and enabled GUS support, played with cpu cycles (most games run best for me with only ~6000cycles, p4-3ghz).
does gus skip less than soundblaster in dosbox? then i might have some use of trying that for zsnes well if you change the output from surface to overlay the graphics gets speedier (atlest for me on 3 ghz p4 or if its the gfx card ati radeon 9800 pro (but i think the gfx are done by the cpu or is that wrong?) )
also you can play with mixer block size something and see if that helps or vice versa
