Donate to the PJ64 team?

I was told and shown by a friend who donated that the new version he got was nothing more than a new looking PJ64 logo and all the same games that had problems before are still not working any better.

So i ask what is going on? What improvements have been made during all that time and what exactly would i be paying for if i did decide to donate? Not just another of the same version with a new number in front of it, is it?

?????????????????????????
You aren't PAYING anything. You are DONATING to zilmar and jabo for their hard work on the emulator and as THANKS you get inside development information and access to betas and WIPs.
I'd rather these terms were correctly interpreted. Pj 1.7 does NOT have a price tag.

People have been "donating" for many many months now and probably even years and it does not seem to be getting the project anywhere. We have a right to ask what's being done with the money we donated and why there are no changes in games that had problems or were not working from the start.

I still can't play the games i was hoping would and should have been playable with a new 1.7 version but they are not. Still no Rouge Squadron, Gauntlet legends, Vigilante 8 2nd offense, Major League Baseball featuring Ken Griffy Jr, RE2 and many many more.

And...? No one's being forced to donate, and v1.7 will eventually be released publicly. Think of the donation as a "thank you" for their past work, not an incentive to continue their work.

you gotta problem with how the 1.7 beta is progressing, tell someone who really needs to care.

the rest of us who are testing and providing data to go towards improving it, don't want to hear useless carry on about it not supporting this, or that.

grow up and move on, it will NEVER support every game, 100%, as it is an impossibility for software to ever fully emulate a hardware console.

if you don't like it, make your own emulator, undoubtedly, you still won't be able to play the games you listed, as they are the hardest of any of the games to emulate.

its fair to say, that a number of people have been given access to 1.7 that don't deserve it, just because of the donators get the 1.7 beta scheme, they have outright abused the the scheme, leaking the plugins to various warez site, where 1 crazy spanish idiot is claiming to be a pj64 developer, but is infact just hacking at the application,.. not even fixing anything.

Thats BS.

Resident Evil 2 runs perfectly fine under PJ64 1.7 with Glide64. No sound or video errors....

Rogue Squardon works (to an extent) with 1.7 and Ziggy LLE Plugin, at playable rates... speaking of which... did Ziggy ever make his code available? it could use some work to fix some bugs that were introduced in the latest builds. the menu's don't show in the latest build

Gauntlet legends, last i heard was a core and graphics issue? best i can say there is play the PSX version, same as Vigilante 8

I'm not trying to down the pj64 team but it has been a very long time and a lot of money donated for the purpose of getting these games working (and others) and they still are not working.

There is no need to get angry about what I'm saying because it is just true.

What is the purpose of holding back these versions if there is no difference with it from 1.6? The purpose (to me) was to give people who donated a leg up on the rest who did not donate and be able to play more games than 1.6 could offer.

Hold on a second here.
As far as I know, the sound in Top Gear Rally actually works now, albiet a bit glitchy. And I've played that Major League Baseball game. The menus are slow but it's perfectly fine in game.
Things ARE being done. Already many things are better. Have patience, developing an emulator can be a slow and tedious process.

wrong...

wrong again...

wrong once more...

If you haven't personally donated yet, why are you bitching? Eventually it'll be finished and released publically...for free! Then we can all enjoy it together.

so what? adding support for effects that didn't work properly in other games doesn't count?, because i think it does.

as i said before, its nigh impossible to emulate games using the Rogue Squadron custom opcode because of its complexity, the best that can be done is improving LLE to the point of running as good as HLE.

anyhow, im sure people would want 1.7 released in its current state considering the Recompiler is severly bugged.

Well there's your problem. The purpose of holding back 1.7 is because it is a BETA. The purpose of releasing the BETA to those that donated was to attempt to get BETA testers that actually care about PJ64 progress, as exemplified by their DONATION. Those that care about PJ64 development are the most likely to also want to help development by finding bugs in the BETA version, and thereby helping to move forward the release date of 1.7. The purpose of DONATING to the Project 64 team is not to get an unfinished BETA version as a reward to have a leg up on everyone else, via the ability to play more games, who did not donate.

Timewarp summed it up for me. See: P64 doesn't WANT 10,000 people playing the beta now: there would only be 10,000 people on the front page posting "P64sux", or 10,000 people with no knowledge on how to file a bug-report coming HERE to do so.

At your service, dood!
If that is true then why did they stop taking donations when they slowed down? When they could just leave it open and rake it in? hrmmm?

Don't kid yourself, they want cash only.
Correction: they no longer want anything, but originally asked for money. I didn't see them asking for potted plants, cutlery, shovels, furniture, or any other miscellaneous items to help them develop PJ64 1.7. However, I don't see what that has to do with absolutely anything at all.
