Ditching socket 940???

I have read on AnAndTech that AMD is ditching socket 940 (for consumer desktops) in Q2 04 for socket 939, hell, if thats the case, i can wait on this Athlon 1600+ a little while longer
and whats with all the ancient stuff on NV40 and how PCI Express will replace AGP in 04

I dont know about the socket 940, but PCI Express is a new bus thats coming out this year that is supposed to significantly increase the bandwidth available between the GPU & CPU. all cards after the nv40 are supposed to be PCI Express. Nvidia demonstrated PCI express technology at CES - see the press release here
