Alpha: why sit and break half the OS so you dont have to be so paranoid of MS hacking you or whatever your fears are? switch to a linux distro or something.

i don't mean to stir up trouble but you seem might paranoid about running windows on your hardware.. i'm not defending MS here but it's contradictive to install an os and break parts of it for the tiny tiny performance gain

Its for several reasons beyond that, primarily for the prevention of exploits. Besides, most of this stuff only took me about a few hours to figure out, I would have probably spent even more time looking for warezed firewall/antivirus/other software that everybody else uses for the same thing.

flow` you have a point there.. I have to remind people constantly about ther rants for and against microsoft.
MS is a Business.. there primary focus is money first.

This really isnt a Rant against MS, just an opinion:

Both MS and Apple were in the same boat ever since they started. Slightly buggy OS's. Until now, both have went it alone without help from other companies. Then Apple joined forces with RedHat to make a (99.9999%) flawless OS called OSX. Just wait and MS will follow through somehow and make a Linux based Windows OS. It will happen soon enough.

redhat? no, OSX is based on freeBSD, which is fairly similar to linux (in fact, they can run each others software natively), only not under the GPL.

well, i thought it was linux myself. but still you get my point. Sonner or later MS with find out they need some outside help and will get it.

i'm about to format my computer, i'm thinking about screwing windows for good, but i still need it for programming purposes, so i guess it will stay
