I think it would help a bit, not big deal. cause i got almost the same performance that most of the people with a Intel core2duo just at 2.2Ghz and with 2MB of cache, and a Ati Radeon HD3650, with 4GB of RAM. In my personal opinion you shouldnt spend your money for just 0.3 Ghz and more power consumption. I know that the number 9950 says that its way better than the 9600, but... I maybe buy it if the L2 cache and the L3 cache were more that the 9600, but they are the same. So I guess, you shouldnt have a lot of improvement. Believe me I have tested a lot of computers and really for more performance it helps a lot more cache that more Ghz. Well the Ghz help if its like 1Ghz more that your actual proccesor but its just 0.3Ghz faster that yours as i saw.

I'm not buying it for the higher model number :-/

I'm buying for the TLB fix, the overclockablility (it's the Black Edition), and because it will probably be the best processor to be made before AMD moves on to a new socket, and I hate changing my motherboard. Theres also the 4000 MHz Hypertransport but I'm not sure what that would do for my performance, it can't hurt right?

i've disabled the TLB Patch on my Phenom 9600+ and i don't get any BSOD's :S Download AMD OverDrive (newest Version) and you can disable the patch that slow's down the Phenom.

Also try updateing your motherboard bios's as you might be able to disable the Patch from your bios but if you use Vista SP1 then you will need to use AMD Overdrive to Disable it

Edit: i see you use Vista so i assume you have SP1 installed??? then watch this as it will help

AMD has gotten behind in the CPU market. Their next core would be a better answer to the Core 2 Duo than it would be to Intel's next thing.

Yes your right... if you have the money and wanna try it, do it. But as I told you I think you will not get too much improvement for Dolphin, cause it deppends also of the structure of the emu. So as I told you I dont recommend you that. You should wait a bit to see whats new from AMD or maybe also from Intel. Remember that that kind of editions like "Black Edition" its a way to get people buying that CPU, while they send out to the market a new model, they're just winning time. Its like the AMD X2 Turion 64 Ultra for laptops... It's just business... Maybe if your patient you could wait a while, then if theres a new CPU, over the internet there will be a lot of comments about it, and if they are pros you can buy a new procesor, instead of buying now a CPU that maybe you will want to trow away later.

Well I just picked the Black Edition because it's somehow cheaper than the regular 9950.

Yeah, I'll give it a while but I doubt they'll do anything else for the AM2+ socket.
