Controller detection & Firewall

I'm not really a newbie to Emulation, and yet I'm stumped. 1964 doesn't detect my controller. My controller works with other emulators, no problema.
When I go to input selection to assign new values to my controller, my button presses don't even show up. I hesitate to change default plugin-ins just yet.

I'm running a Sempron-based pc with Windows XP and my controller is a Saitek Rumble Force P2500 using USB input.

Thanks for any help,
Thomas

Also, my Firewall tells me that 1964 "requests access to the Internet." What's up?

"Ferris Brueller? Anyone? Anyone? Brueller?"

Controller plug-in is "ticked" (checked).

Same problema with Project64.

Now, after reading all the faqs, I know it says sumthin' 'bout not mentioning other emus, but

Mame, NeoRageX, Vice, FCEUltra, and Magic Engine all detect the controller.

I read the docs, but I found info dealing primarilly with video and sound plug-ins (I tried first, scout's honor :saint: ).

Never mind.

Well, slap me silly and call me a newbie after all.
Input controller box was "ticked" but the controller wasn't selected/high-lited on one of the tabbed menus.
