Compressing files

I have been using 7-zip for quite a while and I have been compressing a lot of files into zip format. Except I only know how to compress one file at a time. Its taking WAY too long...I feel like I have god damn carpal tunnel. Is there a way to highlight all the files you want to compress instead of making it into one big zip file? thanks-minkster

you can do it in winrar but it won't make 7z files.

Yeah and winrar makes a very good compression, too.

FWIW winrar compresses regular zip files better than pkzip and winzip too. Dunno about 7zip though. Also if you are going to compress multiple files, the best way to do it with rar is to make a tarball and then compress that, or make a solid rar archive. You'll take more time to decompress individual files, but it'll compress nice and tight.

For example I was able to compress 19 megs worth of stuff into 1.5 megs in a solid rar, whereas regular rar, gzip, 7zip, bzip, and many others could only compress to 4 megs at best.
