No need for doing that. My post showed my stance and how I feel about the issue. Nothing more nothing less.

[rant]
I have every right to say that I am angry about those who think my son has no right to be happy once he is grown.

from Dude
Oh come on, no one was talking about handicapped people, the poll is obviously about people born mentally retarded.

My son is not physically handicap. He also not mentally retarded in the sense that most think either. He does however have a form of autism which shows as language and speech issues. This of course shows up as social behaviour problems as well due to the lack of understanding he has. I hope , as many children like him with this form of autism, he will grow out of it (97% do). However 84% of children who have had this type of autism will have children who do as well. Does that mean he should not be allowed to be happy? According to that poll it certainly does. The poll gives no choices on the matter. "Yes", "No", "or whomever Rjx is" is just not enough to have a valid conversation on the subject. So Vampire your last post in that thread strikes me as someone who feels bad now or something but is trying to validate themselves in some way. Your poll looked to me like nothing other then you thinking it may be fun or funny. Then I step in and show how it made me a bit miffed and you suddenly try to claim the thread had some valid reasoning or dicussions happening??? Where are they?

Anyway feel free to open it back up for more "debate". As it sure looked like you guys were really taking the subject seriously and really hammering out all the "what could happen" situations like adults.

[/rant]

Feel free to delete or close as you see fit. Or if this is even bannable, not sure didn't double check the rules before I posted this one. I just had to speak my peace that's all.

No where was I saying that people with minor flaws shouldn't be allowed to give birth to children. Everyone is flawed in one way or another. What I was talking about is people with major issues. Down syndrome, severe brain damage caused by a genetical disease, AIDS, whatever that can make a newborn child FUBAR. And in no way are you going to convince me that those people should be allowed to breed.

My point was the moment you get into a discussion like that some bleeding heart jumps in and ruins the thread by throwing accusations out left right and centre.

So Vampire your last post in that thread strikes me as someone who feels bad now or something but is trying to validate themselves in some way

Feel bad, whats that? :p

* Nightmare disagree
- because it's not dude or vampireuk business... (or show me yours licenses to think for the others...)
- because there is always chances to have a "normal" child... even with AIDS...
- because there is no difference between me or lightly disabled or heavily disabled people... (except in spirit of some guys)
- because i don't want to see excluded people (with less right) whatever the reason...
- and also because this problem can happen to everyone... not only disabled people... it means dude and vampireuk included...

Wooow... Nightmare is verry tired... thinking like that is very difficult for me... can i have childs ?

Well said. Besides, assume possible medical advances within the next... ooh, lets say 20 years or so. Much in the same way we've seen over the last 20 or so. Would you deny someone the right to breed and have a severely disabled child now, even with the possibility of that child's disability proving in some way to be curable in the future?
People deserve a chance surely.

EDIT: Just wanted to add, I only just got around to reading the closed thread poll results. Refreshing and heartening to see a reasonable majority of the people at emutalk are open-minded enough to make a moral judgement.

I prey, not pray.
FWIW, some genetic diseases get progressively worse when they spread to another generation. Treacher Collins Syndrome is a good example.

Or how about you show me your license that lets you tell me what to say or not to say. Oops, you don't have one.

- because there is always chances to have a "normal" child... even with AIDS...
Oh, and what chance it would be, 5 percent? Seven percent? Would you willingly have sex with an AIDS infected woman now, because there isn't a 100% chance that you'll get infected, and your child might in some obscure change of events be healthy?

I can't really decipher this one, so whatever floats your boat.

- because i don't want to see excluded people (with less right) whatever the reason...
So maybe all of the people in prisons should be released, because hey, Nightmare says that he doesn't want to see people with less rights in this world! (Here's a message to the pinkos : No, I'm not comparing between disabled people and convicts, it's just an example)

- and also because this problem can happen to everyone... not only disabled people... it means dude and vampireuk included...
What the hell are you talking about? You can't develop new genetical diseases, that's the whole point, they're freaking genetical, you're born with them, and that's it.

Right. So lets let people with Down syndrome breed now, and give birth to a child that can barely distinguish between a Stop sign and a basketball, because twenty years from now, we might be able to cure him! Or partially cure him! Or maybe we won't be able to cure him at all! And if we do cure him in twenty years, well, he was still retarded for twenty and has no actual chance to do anything in his life, but at least he's normal now!

Typical of the liberals really, you don't have a right to say what you believe because you don't have a license for that! Of course they can say whatever they like

Edit: Stalkid I thought you ran away after your bitching and crying session over a year ago :icecream:

For humanitarians they don't really have much respect for a persons quality of life do they?

because there is always chances to have a "normal" child... even with AIDS...

Jesus christ you think people with AIDs should have unprotected sex? Ermm can we have some people with more than 3 braincells to argue the otherside of this please

Also Stalkid it's highly amusing how people only have open minds when they agree with your view....hows that witchcraft going by the way?

Ah religious intolerance, nice touch.
Being open minded generally means just that - willing to at least look at other perspectives. I think I just saw all I needed to on that score.

Witchcraft is not a religion, it's a belief, stop trying to lump your ancient (and false) pagan beliefs into the category of a legitimate religion. Go chant some more wicca boy :p

As for been open minded, I'm open minded about certain things, witchcraft I know to be false and a set of silly beliefs. You have no powers and you cannot make any "spells" work. Bitch bitch bitch, you can tell when Stalkid is back :p

Aww poor Stalkid he is still pissed about not been able to talk about illegal material :icecream:

the problem here is i don't deny a right to another one...

But you seem to wish to deny our right to state our opinion on this.

you change the subject... this one is too difficult for you ? you search a better battle field ?

The subject is the same, you brought up people with AIDs, don't back down when DuDe calls you on something you brought up.

you are israelian !!!

You claim he is changing the subject then mention that he is Jewish.....

I never said Witchcraft was a religion. Wicca howevrer is a legally recognised religion, whether you like that or not.
If you want to take this into personal realms, I believe there's a system called private messaging for that kind of thing. It has no relevance whatsoever to the thread, unless you're also going to start on any of the many, many Christians we have on the boards for their "silly beliefs" any time they disagree with you. I didn't bring this up after all, and I don't see how derogatory personal remarks have any place in it really. Try picking holes in the arguments rather than the person. It's the essence of discussion.

I'd just like to say that probably the most intelligent thing I have read since I came back is actually Blizz's signature, which really does have a lot of relevance. People really shouldn't be picked on for beliefs or lifestyle choices. Any belief is valid to the person who chooses it.
As for illegal material, well hey, there's some people openly discussing the LH alpha's in another thread. Are they legal now? No, but they're doing nothing more serious than that infamous topic was. And if you don't get the self-depreciating value of the reference in my signature - It's a joke. Semi-sarcastic commentary. Nothing more, sorry.
As for why I left, well, I believe I (or perhaps it was Jaz on my behalf IIRC) made it very clear at the time why I was doing so. I gave him the choice over whether to post that statement publically or not, if that's what you were referring to as `run(ning) away`. Drag up the past if you want, but again, PM's are the best way usually. This was a public response to an unnecessary public remark.

Ahuh, go light a incense stick.

Any belief is valid to the person who chooses it.

So I can murder you and it's valid if I believe murder is OK?

Instead of posting all that uppity self riteous crap you could have simply sent it all in a PM, but it seems to me you wanted to try and appear on a higher level in public, those in glass houses should not throw stones ;)

It's amazing that two years after your thread got canned you still fail to realise that it got canned because of it being illegal, while the CS:S and HL2 preloads are perfectly fine.

And meh, this thread is starting to suck. Bring back the controversy!
