help please!
running windows xp, pentium 3ghz
i have chancast installed, have the bios.
i mount a bootable image using a daemon.
start up chancast.

now there are 2 things which can happen.

if i configure the cd plugin to be xxx the program boots, and then goes to the main dreamcast menu - selecting 'play game' gives the message 'please insert game disc'.

if i select the aspi plugin, upon selecting 'start' the program without fail crashes.
it says 'chankast alpha 25,exe has encountered a problem and needs to close yada yada yada

i've deleted the whole lot and started again - to no avail.
pleeeeeeeeease (!) can someone help? - i feel rather dumb.

Chankast is not at fault here. Either the CD image you mounted is not selfboot or it's corrupted... or use Daemon Tools 3.29 and see if that make any difference. Windows XP and 2000 don't support ASPI (unless you install the ASPI drivers), so use xxx.

thanks for the info.
i've now set it to xxx and tried it with 3 self booting images.
in each case (and i dont think i was clear first time around), upon selecting the drive, and then selecting 'start' the program gives the impression of booting but then goes into the cd playing program as if amusic cd were inserted.

of course i may have 3 duds but thought i'd check first just in case.

Try using Alcohol120% to mount your images. Thats what I use
The virtual drive in both Alcohol 120% and Daemon Tools are practically one and the same thing. :D IIRC, the Daemon Tools developers are partly responsible for Alcohol's virtual drive coding as well.

maybe this is what i am doing wrong.

the images i have are cdi files.
would i be right in thinking i have to actually have ISO files and cdi ones wont work?
if so then i'm stupid for not reading closely enough.

Every CD image file format that is supported by Alcohol 120% and Daemon Tools should work.
