Well at least we have GSM cellphones lines here in Costa Rica, and now I'm going to buy a new phone, guys what do u think about the the Motorola T190 or the T191, or about the Nokia 3310? Please consider that my current budget doesn't allow me to buy more expensive phones. Which other do u recommend me?

My current baby, the Samsung T-100 is 1337... :D But that won't do you much good, Ericsson has nice products though... But so has Nokia... Look at the phones in your price range, ask the salesman to look at them simualtanieosly and make your pick from there...

I love Nokia phones, so if I was you I'd get one of those. :) My brother has an 8310, which is pretty sweet but expensive. My sister has the 6510, which is much like the 8310 but not as advanced. I'd go for the 6510 if it's not too expensive for your budget.

I'm currently using an Ericsson T68 myself, but would rather have a Nokia. :)

I love Nokias but the best thing to do is to go into a shop and play around with them to see which one you prefer.

Well, Well guys OK, the thing is that here in my country there's not a lot of models to choose, and it's very difficult to buy GSM phones now because they are sold out almost everywhere (yeah I know it's a small country just remember to check a map and remember how small is Costa Rica), so between the models that I mentioned above (that's are the ones that I can afford) should I buy the Nokia?

Here in Polnd you can buy Nokia 3310 for 1 PLN ( 25C ) , BUT you have to use it for 2 or 3 years ( min. 10$ a month ) so I gues it shouldn't be expensive anywhere else :]
Damn you can even get a cellphone for free in some stupid promotions , like with 2 Pizza's and stuff :]

I have a Motorola T191, but are very familiar with 3310 also, so I think I have enough info and experience to answer you properly. Anyways, the T191 is kinda cool both design and menus, and its much smaller than the 3310. It's about the same weight as 3310. They have got about just the same functions (give and take a few), but the T191 has got tetris :D

But, it is a bad version of it, although fun to play its kinda ruined by one big flaw the whole T191 has: It's SLOW to react to your keypresses. This is VERY annoying, believe me, so although everyone and their grandma owns a 3310, I would go for that choice too. They are about the same in functions, but the 3310 are much quicker to react to your keypresses. You might live with the issue, but it will bug you pretty often. Sometimes it takes about 1 sec from you pushed a key till the phone reacts. You can however push the keys pretty fast, and the phone will "record" them and respond to them correct, but it takes a while, and the tetris and snake game on it are a bit ruined cause of this. It has a very cool game called box world tho, which every puzzle fan would love. But again, go for the 3310 unless it's much more expensive. If theres anything you wonder about (speaking of T191) just send me a PM or post here...

OK Gorxon, so the T191 is cool except by that keypresses issue, now what kind battery does the T191 use? a Nickel Metal Hydride or a Li Ion one? also I heard that T191 sound quality is bad, is that true? It is true that Nokia batteries last longer than Motorola's?

It may be true, I dont know..It's what my brother told me!

Ericsson's suck ass. Though i've never owned a Ericsson phone many of my friends have and they all have been very dissatisfied with them and replaced them with Nokia's within a year.

As i live in Finland I have to say that Nokia is the only choice! :phone:

Here's my loyal Nokia 8110i (sorry couldn't find a english version) which hasn't had a single fault in it's 4½ years long existence. The best phone ever designed.

Uh, you do know that Nokia have a VERY high failure rate. Like every 5th phone they sell need repairs within a year. It's been on TV, newspapers and whatnot here...

As for more info on the T191, the sound quality is well..average. First of all, it is a bit low, both voice and ringtones. Second, the quality of the sound could certainly been better too indeed, but I haven't used a 3310 that much so it's hard to compare that exact thing.

It uses a nickel metal-hybride battery, which would be the reason for it's heavy weight (but that really isn't a problem). It could certainly have lasted longer too, but for me that isn't really an issue. (lasts about 100 for me, but note that it isn't standby only, as i use the phone a lil bit too...but of course it depends on how much you use it. It is said to last 180 hours while standby only, but i dunno....).
Again, I would go for a Nokia if the price were the same, but be aware of the fact that many of their phones have problems...

If anything, feel free to ask again!

I haven't experienced that much of a difference in failure rates between Nokia / Ericsson. But it depends only on luck what you get. But generally i'd advice to buy old top models that are sold cheap because those usually have Lithium-Ion batteries and generally better quality. The cheap models are somewhat the same crap in different packages... but that's just my opinnion:)
