Cant Control Games with keyboard

For some reason my project64 wont let me control any roms with the keyboard. I have tried 4 different plugins, i have the fully updated p64. I have checked that every option in each plugin is correct i have no idea what could be wrong. Any help?

1. Use this plugin.
2. If that doesn't work, update your version of DirectX.

Make sure that you've your assigned movement keys to the analog stick, instead of the digital pad.
