i have a Hauppauge WinTV Theater with the Conexant BT878 tuner chip (heh, it was only for 50 bucks, thats how much a new Win-TVGO costs, although i have never used the special feautures [fm, remote control, and pro logic]) and i am not very satisfied with my image quality.
now when i bought this card from my neighbor, i bought it cause i saw him wathcing live cable tv (same way i do, same provider, and the signal at his house is weaker if not equal to mine) but it looked great, 10x better than mine does.
i wanna know what kinda card i should get in my new pc and which tuner i should aim for. i have been eyeing the ATI TV WONDER PRO for a while, as well as the MSI PCI TV/FM Tuner Card TV@nywhere Master and both the wintv pvrs and the asus tv cards
all of the cards use phillip chips with the exception of the MSI which uses some really long-named conexant tunr and the wintv pvrs which god knows what they use

What you have there is a fine card already.

I used to do some repair work for Charter cable in St. Louis. If your picture qulity has some sort of static/fuzz in the image it is one of two things.

1) A bad cable (I would check it all the way back to the main, use gold connector on all wiring except outside, and use very few splitters).

2) Interference from some other component in your computer.

The second one, I would have no clue how to shield it.

With my Bt878 Card I get some fuzz on certain channels but not others and sometimes those channels are clear. Ive attributed it to the signal from the service, not the computer.
