I "upgraded" from a Dx7 Gf2Mx400 to a Dx8.1 Radeon 8500 and the fps is ..lower .
In Soul Calibur(my main interest) i'm getting 8 fps less and..it shows .
I was getting 33 fps with the Geforce but now only 25 :( it's damn slow .What happened ?
Did the emulation get more accurate but slower with a Dx 8.1 card ?

Could be. Also, since you switched over from a NVIDIA to an ATi card, it may be worth using Drivercleaner to remove all traces of the NVIDIA drivers before installing the ATi ones.

Currently my suspicion is on AA and AF which on Radeon are "application controlled" and you can't turn them off .On the Geforce they were off.
So i'm wondering if Chankast uses AA and AF by default and how can i turn them off for the Radeon since there's no such option in the drivers .
The graphics do look better on Ati and i guess it's because of the AA and AF .
Or could it be because of the pixel/vertex shader?

AA/AF theory is down so the only thing that could explain the slowdown is the use of pixel shader to enhance the details. If anyone has any suggestions please .....I'm still in the :w00t: condition.
