How fast does Chankast run on your machine and what is your machine spec for 2D and 3D games?

My system spec:

CPU: Dual Athlon MP 1800+
MB: Tyan Tiger MPX (S2466N-4M)
RAM: 1 GB PC2100 DDR
GFX: ATI Radeon 9700 (128 MB)
OS: WinXP Pro w/SP2

All games tested with the following settings:

Video mode: 640x480
Use ZWrite: checked
Use AlphaTest ZWrite: checked
Capcom Hack: checked (for capcom games)

All tested fps scores are for in-game and they hovers around value:

Capcom vs SNK: 32.6 fps to 34.8 fps
Capcom vs SNK 2: 24.6 fps to 27.4 fps
Dead or Alive 2: 11.9 fps to 12.5 fps
Power Stone 2: 15.5 fps
Soul Calibur: 17.5 fps to 18.1 fps
Street Fighter III - Third Strike: 27.8 fps to 33.3 fps
Virtua Fighter 3: 15.4 fps to 16.8 fps

Please post your scores and system spec.

Thanks for the post, Cid.

Anyone reading have a winxp/AMD Athlon 64 FX 53 939 or winxp/Pentium 4 3.4GHz 800MHz 2MB Extreme setup? I would like to know how much of a performance difference one gain from owning these high-end CPUs.

Hey... that thread would be great, if all the chankast users would post their benshmarks... post them in near futur! *could be a sticky one, if it will be used*

Thanks Limak-san for your scores. I'm jealous! :)

MasterPhW_DX -- yes, I second that notion. This should be a sticky once more people contribute their system spec and scores.

Here's another game I tried (same settings as before):

Fire Pro Wrestling D: 3.5 fps to 4.2 fps

vuL -- man, that goes to show that the graphic card don't play a big role in determining game speed under chankast (70 fps in Soul Calibur...holy mother!). I have a ATI Radeon 9700 vs your GeForce 4Ti 4200. Either chankast isn't fully utilizing or it's just not optimized for 3D cards in this release. Hopefully, the authors will change that in the next several releases.

Strange -- yeah, my score sucked big time for Soul Calibur. Hmmm...you also have a GeForce card and the numbers are better. I'm starting to get suspicious about chankast maybe favoring nVidia over ATI cards. :( Well, I don't know the difference between the Athlon XP 1700+ and the Athlon MP 1800+. I think mine runs slower because of the registered memory I used for the Athlon MP 1800+.

Come on people, post your scores and system specs. Anyone able to get "Fire Pro Wrestling D" over 30 fps?

Yet another game for everyone (same setup as my other games):

Mortal Kombat Gold: 36.7 fps to 38.9 fps

Ouch - those are some bad benches kidaware. I get much over 2X the speed you get in the games you've listed.

Favoring nvidia over ATi? Actually it's quite the opposite. ;)

Video card don`t play big role in emulation... Only if you using FSAA with high resolution its taking role.... I`m getting that big fps numbers only because of my 3400+ CPU... and maybe because good motherboard with good memory too...

system spec:
proccy: p4 3.0ghz
gfx: ati radeon 9800 XT
mobo: asus as4800
Ram: 1024 mb
os: winxp sp1

i've tested only 2 games so far.
Crazy Taxi 2 @ 640 * 480 no aa/fsaa, capcom hack alphatestzwrite and Zwrite all enabled i get around 40 - 45 fps when dcast cpu is @ 100 when i reduced it to 80 i got a few more frames 50 -55.

Steet fighter Third Strike @ 640 * 480 no aa/fsaa, capcom hack alphatestzwrite and Zwrite all enabled i get around 70fps with cpu @ 100 i got a about 80 fps when i underclocked it to 80 :p.

will post some more results maybe on same games or others l8er :)

BFG Geforce 6800 Ultra OC

1280x1024
8xS FSAA
16xAF - Full Trilinear Filtering

Soul Calibur - 70 FPS
Street Fighter 3 TS - 60 fps
Resident Evil: CV - 40 to 60 fps(depending on scene)
Sonic Adventure 1/2 - 40 to 60 fps(depending on scene)
Dead or Alive 2 - 35 fps
Virtual Fighter 3 - 35 fps

Most games run a little too fast. ;) Some of the DC games seem to change it's internal real FPS during certain scenes in the game.

I lost it, my gramps wanted it back after giving it to me, saying this Celeron didn't run word fast enough for him. I told him it won't make a bit of difference, but he still wanted it back.

Oh well, this Celeron is quite suprising, it's smokin with Dual Channel DDR. :D I dare ya to try and beat my mem bench scores. ;)

Strange -- well put, I stand corrected.

suronosuke -- I could only dream about playing SF3:TS at your speed.

R0AcH -- that doesn't make much sense. Why does lowering the clock speed of the dreamcast increase the framerate? I would expect the opposite would be true. If you increase/overclock the dreamcast you would get a fast framerate. Wow, that P4 @ 3 Ghz really blew away SF3:TS (70 fps is just too much! :) how do you execute the HADOU-KEN/SHORYU-KEN at that speed? It's almost like playing the old SF2 turbo/hyper addition).

jareg -- I didn't see what game you tried it with?

fivefeet8 -- yes, you make a good point. I also noticed that depending on the scene, the FPS score drastically jumps out of range. Those are some nice scores for the games you mentioned. My system really, really suck.

Ilitirit -- man, that's a big drop in fps on the ring stage considering that you're topping out at 90 fps.

More game scores (same settings):

Rival Schools 2 (Project Justice): 24.3 fps to 30.1 fps

Keep them game scores coming, maybe we'll get noticed and this will become a sticky.

so did i i read the readme and it said basically what your saying now but the reverse has happned for me i can show u screens if u wud like :p. My framerates are actually lower and i notice more corruptions and glitches in the game graphics when i overclock the dc emu :\. weird but hmm i guess will need more thorough testing.

and also its not like i play with the optimum settings that make fps 70-80 :p that;s just for the benchmarking i usually play full screen 1024 * 768 which would make frames around 60 in sf3s ;)
