I was recently wondering, what's the composition of normal and alkaline batteries? Also I know that Nickel Cadmium batteries have "memory effect", Nickel Metal-Hydride almost eliminated this effect and Litium Ion batteries doesn't have this effect at all. Could someone give a chemical explanaton to this?

ROFL what does this have to do with Computer Tech? lol. I really have no idea, I think they may have Magneseum (hence the name Alkline) and I know they have some Silver in them as well. I'm not sure about that though, it could be a different alkali metal.

Oh and some Alkaline batteries have the "memory effect" as well, like the the Energizer Renewal batteries are Alkaline. Those use a slightly different combination of Alkali metals.

all rechargable bats. have the "memory" problem. Its like setting a marker every time you use them. High quality batteries (like laptop bats.) are just better quality and have to have alot more of the markers before it takes affect.
