Avoiding multiple player split screens

Hello,

I want to vs my friends at GoldenEye multiple player but with each user getting their own screen. This is for two reasons one being screen size and the other not being able to see what the other player(s) are doing.

I want to know if this is possible for both multiple player on a single PC and or for when using Kaillera based netplay such as on Project64k.

Also how difficult is it to keep netplay games in sync?

thanks,

Chris

I kind of doubt that this is currently possible. The game is what determines what goes on the screen - the emulator just bridges the gap between the N64's hardware and a PC's. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

The way multiplayer games work on the N64, it's not possible. You'll only get splitscreen, because that's how the game has been coded and the real N64 only has ports for more controllers, not link features. So no own "non-split" screens either.

Perhaps there is a way you can fudge it with multiple monitors and either changing the project64 (or 64k) source to somehow split the display into 2 or more different windows or modifying the game?

Or even adjusting the picture on the monitor or zooming in to show only the players screen?

We use the ulta modernistic method of construction paper screen blockage. It works and well, it's basically the only way we play these days. I've pursued the emu screen block possiblity but nothing has come up. I've only heard rumours about being able to do it. There must be something outside of the emulator that allows you to manipulate the screensizes etc.

Theorhetically, a setting in the video plugin could allow you to only have one part of the screen displayed. This wouldn't be anything fancy; just a setting that you would have to change everytime you did split-screen multiplayer. Consider adding this to the feature request thread if you really care about it.

I'm looking to do the same thing, I'm going to try to use s-video and split it between a tv and my lcd and see how that works...
