athlon xp 1700+ SSE problem (yes i have read the faq)

Hi ^^

I would like too run chankast on my pc but i get "your cpu doe's not support SSE"

I thought.. "hmm maybe my cpu realy does not support SSE" and checked it out with
adia32 system analyse tool.
I found out that SSE is SUPPORTET AND AKITVE..

i read the faq and the manual.. and everything should work fine..
i have an athlon xp 1700+.. following your manual chankast should run but i doesn't :-|

what can i do?

I guess your CPU may report itself as having SSE, whilst your motherboard is disabling it. I think that would be possible.

What motherboard you using?

its an ami bios..
but where to aktivate SSE?
i can't found it in the bios

Almost certainly the motherboard. All Athlon XP processors should support SSE. You may need to update your motherboard's BIOS (available from ECS's offical site) or simply buy a better motherboard (ECS is not a great motherboard manufacturer anyway).

Go flash your BIOS with the latest version as suggested and try again.

If it still will not work this may mean you installed Windows XP previously with SSE disabled therefore no SSE drivers were installed. I'm not sure of any way to install them after the fact other then completely reinstalling Windows.

Athlon 2100+ with K7S5A using an old cheep-o bios (official bios, hacked to allow more overclocking).

Chankast works fine, SSE is enabled and fine.

ok i searched for a bios update but cant find something that says explicit
that it fixes bugs with sse

a bios update is a delicate thing so in don't want to do it blind..

can anyone give me an advise for the k7s5a
