Arcade dev?

A lowdown dirty shame
Hey everyone. I was wondering if there are any websites that pertain to dev of arcade games? I told my 11 year old cousin that I was going to make him an arcade game and I'm not sure where to start. I know there are lots of different hardware out there, but which one is a good one to use? Neo geo? ST-V? Sega Naomi? Thanks.

EDIT: Sega titan video (ST-V) is my target system. Any info on deving for that would be appreciated.

Sounds like a weird idea, but for example Outrun 2 is running on an Xbox-based system so you can just chip an xbox and start devving and pretend it's a real arcade system :p

Forget about ST-V if you want to get anything done in your lifetime.

I believe MAME would be a good place for hardware information.
I'm not positive but these used 68K and Z80's together (the games) so you might have a bit of fun ahead of you.
Also you need to consider how much work you need to do :)

Anyhow I suggest you develope a sprite based one.. as 3d is a bit too much for many of the older arcade systems. There are a few that are glorified PSX's (4M ram an 2M video) Resident Evil arcade game started that way.
Others that are glorified N64s SO you can make him an arcade game :D
