Well, vdub does it for me. I just tryed and got a sample music video. it is about 6.25 seconds long and takes up just under 1MB of space. I did use the divx codec, but didnt seem to help much.

on windows when you want to edit videos there's two software to install:
-virtual dub
-tmpegenc

With these two tools you can do everything. (Sometimes when you want to do weird things, avisynth script language is also usefull)

Virtual dub is designed for avi files, and tmpegenc for mpeg files.

What would you use on Linux? I have never looked into this.

Meh...
since we're on the topic, does anyone know a program that could make a video better quality, as in better resolution and stuff? or does those two programs have that option...
