A Radeon for Rice

I know Rice, you use a GeForce card to devv on, my question is, if you got a Radeon, even something like an old 9000 64meg, would it fix the Radeon problems for cards up to the newest Radeons like the 9800XT? Basically, if you make it compat with an old radeon, would it be compat for a new radeon?

I guess so. A DX 8.1 compatible Radeon should be good enough, of cause a DX9 card will be better, such as a 9600.

AFAIK, 9600 and 9800 are newer than 9700. 9600 is to replace 9500, and 9800 will replace 9700. Both 9800 and 9600 are fullly DX9 compatible.

In Nvidia family, 5200, 5600, 5800, 59x0 are all DX9 compatible.

The cards that support DX9 and OpenGL 1.5/2.0:

9500
9600
9700
9800

The 9000 and 9100 do not. I'm not sure about the 9200.

Only if Rice gets a Radeon, or someone starts a collection to buy him one, it's hard to develop for a card you dont actually have.

Maybe rice, then you would be able to add Hardware frame buffer emulation?

I am not one to go up against you Rice, however I have a radeon 9200 128MBSE card, and it asked if I wanted to install DirectX 9.0, so I think I have just clarified everything, it does support DirectX 9.0

It supports DX9 in so far of the fact it works with DX9 loaded (but then most graphics cards will). However it has no DX9 features, pixel shader 2.0 for example.

As for the double post, you do realise you can just click edit and delete it yourself?

I believe so, it'll be very slow in most things though. There is the support though, so at least you will be able to use it in a few things - just not in graphically intensive PC games (HL2 for example).

Does the geforce fx 5200 support pixel shader 2.0?

Yes, at single digit frame rates and dismally low resolutions.

Translation: It WORKS, but it isn't worth trying.
