A couple of questions about abbreviations

I was on irc yesterday(emulation64) and as people typed and typed out there responces I got more confused then ever before.

all the abbreviations so confusing!!what does it all mean guys/girls.
I wanted to ask this on irc but once i did I was immediatly flamed by
passive and knuckles so heres my questions.

what does and :d at the end of a sentence on irc mean???

also what does AFAIK mean. I have more but I cant remember them right now.

As you members/visitors can plainly see I am somewhat of a noob(New Person)
when it comes to irc and abbreviations.So dont flame me.
