Why Does It Say Something Like This Program Has Gennerated Errors And The The Program Will Close Every Time I Open A Rom!?

I really don't know a ton about computers, so what is an N64 image? Is it a bios file? And can it affect the speed of the emulation?

Speed I am fairly new to N64 emulation, and I have a relatively old comuputer that is pretty slow. Is there any way that I can speed up PJ64 without buying any additional hardware? It is usually around 20 fps. And just out of curiosity, does fps stand for frames per second?
