I don't know whats causing it or how to fix it. What is this screen I keep seeing? I usually see it when I gain control of my character at the beginning of the game and every now and then, the screen turns grey, then turns back to normal and a remaining part of that greyness(grey square box) floats around the screen and dissappears. It keeps coming every now and then.

It's a known bug in the default video plugin. This one's been around for a while as I recall, but I noticed that it works with the v1.5.2 plugin, doesn't work with v1.6. Perhaps it was fixed and then reintroduced...?

if its in the 1.6 plugin but not in the 1.5 plugin, it may be fixed by adjusting the dx8 plugin options, such as the d3d clear mode?
