WWF No Mercy save problem..

It seems no matter what you do you cannot save CAWS for some reason in No Mercy, even using save states. When you create a wrestler and exit the screens the wrestler is gone, even using mempak doesn't help. Has anyone solved this long dreaded problem or will it be addressed in the next version ?

Forgot to mention you can see the wrestler is saved on the controller pak, but even when you transfer him to the game pak, and exit, he is erased....
