Using mesh smooth

Does anybody know how to mesh smooth the extracted models, I can add a ms modifier but it has no effect on the model. Does anybody know a way to smooth it?
The picture shows Joanna with mesh smooth modifier in 3ds max 6.

quick guess: try to use the Weld modifier first. I don't know exactly how n64 3d usually outputs triangles, but I'd guess that from an extractor gfx plugin you'd get discrete triangles instead of a continous mesh. Weld should fix that.

It doesn´t work that way, maybe I'm making something wrong, is there anywhere a tutorial where it is described how to do it?

Hmm IIRC (long time since I used MAX) meshsmooth has a "steps" or "passes" or something parameter that is set to zero by default, you have to increase it to get any smoothing..

You were right, I made a mistake the first time, now it works. However there are some little errors at some bodyparts but I think I could fix that by myself. Thanks ector.
