the game goes bad when i open a room

To reset all settings you can reinstall project64. Any game progress you want to keep can be done by moving all your saves out of the 'saves' folder and putting them somewhere safe, and then putting them into the new 'saves' folder after reinstall.
BUT the fact that "everything in the screen goes really fast" is interesting. Do you have "hide advanced settings" unchecked (as in, can you see advanced settings)? If so, you may have pressed F4 and taken off the speed limiter. Try pressing it again to limit the speed, and see if it works OK then.
