I am in a "society" myself, (thats co-ed equivalent of a fraternity/sorority for you ESLs) although it's only for a two year college. Entry into these isn't just something that you can wake up one morning and say "I want to join a fraternity today," as they often times have certain academic requirements as they want to retain a high standard. Sometimes they are by invitation only (mine was.)
