just wondering is anyone else getting frequent black screens where u end up having to restart?

yes, usually after you access the inventory, SOA crashes. read the SOA threads . there is some good stuff on homebrewing it to work. although it involves exoboot ,which does nothing for me,but other people may have had results.

When you replace the replace the 1st_read.bin in the echelon version of Skies of Arcadia, the inventory crash is fix. Now the only problem is the all the other random crashes that appear out of nowhere. Other than that, the game is perfect.

yea these crashes/black screens mostly occur during random battles in the sky and to a lesser extent in field battles. The music usually continues and after restarting the bios is sometimes corrupt.

after restarting the bios is sometimes corrupt.

1. Unset the read-only flags for dc_bios.bin and dc_flash.bin
2. Boot the BIOS and set the language to English
3. Exit the language selection screen, then quit chankast
4. Set the read-only flags for both files

Now it always boots in English, and the BIOS files never get corrupted.
