I would like to build a mini pc such as the Via EPIA or small form factor such as the Shuttle. The software to be installed on the system will be SuSE linux, Akeni Corporate IM server, Openoffice 2, etc. Has anyone had any previous experience with mini pc's such as its reliability and stability?

Any comments will be appreciated.

I've built up a s754 shuttle pc for a friend about 6 months ago, and i never had a problem with it stability wise, even overclocking was pretty stable with it too, squoze around 400 mhz extra out of the CPU. As for reliability it's still working fine now even overclocked
