What's new

Problem with Zelda OoT and Kirby. Not the same as always.

Zelda: Some text fails to show up:

As you see, "Please select a file" is completely black.

In this pic, "Put Away" is black. The same happens with every message or number in the button signs.

Finally, when I enter the Lost Woods, and do some walking, I get this error

I tested it in two different ROMs. Nothing severe, according to some FAQs this road just sends me back to the entrance. But what if appears elsewhere?

Now with Kirby... When I get to Waddle Doo I get this error:

Access Violation

While processing graphics data an exception occurred
you may need to restart the emulator

And it dies. Damn, I want to play this game. I use Jabo's Direct3D8 1.6.

UPDATE: I changed to Jabo's Direct3D6 1.5.2 and I got this

Besides, some textures are in black and white and the enemies are semitransparent.

My computer specs:
CPU: Pentium 4 2.26GHz
RAM: 512MB (actually 480 as a fraction goes to video memory)
Graphics Adapter: S3 Graphics ProSavageDDR
OS: Windows XP SP2

Most of the graphics problems are due to the ProSavage video card. You'll need a better video card, preferably one that is DX9 compliant.

Lost Woods glitch: Change the Self Modifying Code Method to Change Memory & Cache.

Kirby: Use Mupen64, validate rom with GoodN64, disable any cheats if you have them on, do not load from a save state etc.

Tried the Kirby solution, but it's unplayable due to slowness (glN64_v0.4.1.dll plugin). Any plugins that might work?

You'll need at least an Intel 82852/82855 chip to run everything correctly, but trust me, graphics cards are heaven compared to chips.
