Paper Mario problems

I have tried every possible combination of plugin, setting, etc and this game still randomly freezes for no rhyme or reason. Is there a bad dump going around? Is it an nvidia thing (as the video dies and the music continues)? I have no idea... Anyone have this problem and solve it?
