Ocarina of Time Game Freezes/Glitches when lowering the well!

Ocarina of Time always freezes when I am trying to lower the well in Kakariko village as child link, on my way to the Shadow temple. I downloaded the version 4.0 of the RDB file and extracted it to my Project 64 folder but it didn't solve the problem. I need help! This is a great game that I want to finish.

Are you starting the game from a save state or a native save? If the former, try the latter. Also, turn off cheats if you are using them.

I have tried starting from native saves and state saves and the problem is the same. I have no cheats on but i fiddled with them earlier in the game to see if they worked.

This is mentioned in the game FAQ, it says it changes with day/night, so whichever one you're trying atm, try the other.
