Hey, I like having my monitor bright... most of the time. For some games and movies, it looks better dark.

Well, the main reason you want to keep your gamma setting just right (as opposed to too bright or too dark) is because it will maximize graphic detail. I can see that text myself too, but I have to squint, and by looking at the color offset, thats the way it was supposed to be.
