Mame save state problem

When I save a state in any game in MAME it says "Save succesful", but when I load it it says "Error: Cannot load state". What shall I do?

What game? Some game either have buggy savestate support or no such support at all.

Marvel VS Capcom, Marvel VS street fighter, Street fighter alpha 3 and splatter house. I read about these games the other day and apparently they don't support it, as you said Agozer.
