Linux - How do I return to a normal resolution

When I exit mupen64_nogui, it leaves my X zoomed in A LOT. Forces me to 'init 3; init 5' when I want to go back to normal. Are there any secret commands to get the screen back to normal? My xorg.conf only has a single modeline (1080i). I have seen this with xmame too. Would love a global fix.
Thanks

Upon some more playing, this only happend when I am testing via ssh w/ 'export DISPLAY=":0.0"'. If it gets started within mythtv, it is ok.

erm, doesnt ctrl+alt+keypad_minus or ctrl+alt+keypad_plus switch back to normal resolution ?

init3 init 5, is too much, to just restart your X server use ctrl+alt+backspace

btw. what video plugin do you use ?
i use rice's over here windowed :)

if a program crashes and leave you with a locked mode (ctrl alt keypad+) (ctrl alt keypad+) is not working anymore, try "xvidtune -unlock". xvidtune is part orf xorg/xfree
and is a nice tool to play with modes (start it without parameters)

Thanks for the updates. I have since started using c-a-back now that I have a wireless keyboard (Belkin MediaPilot for mythtv). I got used to init3;init 5 whe I was doing everything via ssh on my laptop. Next time the issue pops up I will try xvidtune.
