Lag with PJ 64

I'm just wondering if my computer isn't fast enough, or I have something configured incorectly.

Duron 800, Asus 3800v (TNT2) , 256mb ram, Windows XP.

All the games create some kind of wait state, and it really sucks. I even tried pj on my friends 1.6 gh P4, with some G4 video card... And it lagged. Am I missing something?? Anyone know where or if it is possible to find a listing of options to have and not to have selected??

hmm the only things i changed =
fullscreen resolution and emulation\texture format... (16&32bpp)
well ahh ? whats the resolution... from p64...
heh if u run it @ 1280x.. heh it could lag
well.. with 800x600 i got 160-200 somethings frames/s
on eg goldeneye

ahh hmm what i have seen.. i turned once .. many cheats on
under goldeneye.. well then the game went.. slowly freezing...
overall.. the gameshark.. emu part.. is a bit lagging.. if u use to many codes.. maybe about that freezing?
