For Your Information (aggrandisement too)I have experience administering and moderating a forum and run my own emulation and gaming community, plus I have a great reputation at forums like Ngemu, General Plots forum and other emulation forums as well.
I'm sorry, but this is the only thing I could think of since Martin isn't around to take care of the source of the problem. This is not something I normally would ask since I am always cautious to follow the rules and not break them, and seems like the only possible solution for now.

Yes the bots are very annoying, that's really all I can say, anything else would be just adding further spam to the noise in my view.

Yes I understand the rules, I was just extremely sick of the spam at the time. I now realize it isn't as bad as some forums ala thanks to AllNatural.
Btw, there is another bot spamming porn under the guise of "washing your hands" as the title, which the thread preview showed without the need to click on it.
I'm afraid to click on it to report it in a way, because next thing you know they'll be spamming kiddie porn and well I don't need Chris Hanson or John Walsh on my tail.

I've reported two or three of it's threads already and it hasn't been banned yet, it's been over three hours now.
It keeps coming back online every half hour to an hour and posting the same crap spam thread over and over.

Most browsers have settings that will allow you to disable the loading of images on web pages. I often disable image loading temporarily when I'm about to read what I suspect to be a spam post or e-mail. (In the case of e-mail, this is a particularly good idea, since sometimes downloading an image from the spammer's website - even an unoffensive one - will alert the spammer that your e-mail account is active and provoke more spam.)

Obvious bot needs banning, it's already accumulated 18+ posts, how much more does it need to accumulate before it's successfully banned? It posting in existing threads which is quite annoying as it makes you think there is a new reply to a thread by a genuine member/

The solution is really, really, really simple. Get Martin64 to add some characters to type in during registration, characters that won't be OCRed from a bot.
My apologies if this has been implemented already, i joined 7 years ago on the "new" emutalk board, i wouldn't remember.
Another solution is to disable html and image links for normal members, since the images will be uploaded to a separate server anyway, why not just link something.
Leave the screenshot posts for mods only, besides all coders(emulator developers) are mods.

i would have to disagree man... there are to many people who code here, way to many.... it would be a rediculous waste of time to start handing out special accounts for people to be able to share their work.
but i think there has got to be a way to not allow certain words to be used ya know?
if there is it would be pretty easy to cut down if we could just put in a few key words that i dont think need to be named. :nemu: :cat: =]
Martin is probably trying to graduate from University (I'm not sure myself he's not said if he's starting a hot dog stand or graduating or ... wel much of anything). So likely he has a lot on his mind as he would be onto things.
Erstwhile let mods know about the anoyances and they'll take care of what they can.

Captcha in combination with a simple no-spam verification question does wonders, I use it on my forum and no spambots have gotten through yet.
Simple questions such as "Whats 2 + 2" or "Are you human" or "Are you a robot/bot" are simple enough and shouldn't make a fuss trying to register.
As mentioned we hope Martin is alright, however he probably is as the website is still up, just awaiting a solution although the spam has calmed somewhat in the past few weeks.
