Good (non-Windows XP) sound-rippiing utilities

I was wondering if there're any good sound/music recorders so I can rip music from emulators. The reason I'm asking this is beacause, one: the built-in WinXP soud recorder sucks crap, two: I have an integrated nVidia Sound Storm 5.1 sound card and the Creative Sound Recorder won't work with it, and three: Because most built-in emulator sound recorders only work with certain plugins (unlike Eternal SPU 1.41 for Epsxe). Does anyone know where I can get a good sound recorder that can accept all Windows sound output. (You know, a software that records anything going on including emulators, mp3s, etc.)

What audicity lacks is pretty much the ability to sample sound and advanced things such as those. But otherwise it looks pretty cool. I've always used TotalRecorder. Though it's not free.
