Fishing in zelda oot

Is it possible to catch a fish in zelda using 1964, or am I just doing something wrong. I have version 0.8.5, and using Jabo's direct3D6 video plugin, and N-Rage's direct-input8 1.60 if it matters.

I have the fish hooked for about 3 or 4 seconds, then the fish lets go. Is there some special trick that I don't know about or do I just not have fishing skill?

You just don't have the skill.

You have to push analog up+A (i think) to keep the hook on.. not sure if it's that combo, but something similar.
