Extracting from Roms?

I'm working on a map for UT (classic), I want to make peach's castle.
I've read some other posts on forums and gained some information on tiledumping. Now I'm wondering, is it possible to extract textures and music from a rom? (like mario 64) if so, can someone please explain to me what program/files I need and HOW I can do so?
Thx!

For N64 texture extraction you can use an N64 emulator like Project64 or 1964 with the TR64 video plugin, this plugin has an option for texture dumping and also if you need it, there is a VRML dump option which is for dumping a 3D mesh of the current scene being rendered. Found Here:-

Alternatively you can use the N64 emulator Nemu which uses a different plugin system, and use the latest video plugins by Lemmy to obtain the same features. Found Here:-

For extracting sound, the best method would be to run the game in an emulator and use Windows Sound Recorder or another package of your choosing to record the output to a Wav file. I don't know of any plugins that dump to a WAV file, but then again I haven't looked.

There is an alternative tool called "N64 Soundbank Ripper", which has the filename srip01.zip, i've never used it but it apparently does what you're asking for. Heres a link to download SoundBank Ripper, it's hosted on Emu64 so should be fine:-

(Mods, remove the link if its not allowed)

Hey I tried Pj with the Tr64 plugin, but the output folder contains images sized 32x32 64x32 etc. They are very small, is this the general size? I mean, are the textures on the n64 cardridge this size, or is there a way to make the output size bigger. When I try to scale up the images now they get all blurry and low-res (photoshop). :plain:

the N64 textures are in 16 32 or 64 sizes, those are the original size in any N64 games. you have to work with that, some textures, when used correctly, can look great even if they are small.

look how the Mario64 bob-omb battlefield looks in UT2k4:

Is it your map? if so, how did you make the scale so "perfect" i mean, have you used the mesh extracted from the rom or something? If this is possible it would save me a lot of time...

Hi

I tried using the SRIP thing, but stupid Windows XP just opens the DOS window and closes it down. How do you get it to stay open?

You obviously don't know how to use the command prompt. Learn that, then you can use the program.

Hi, Master's Quest works fine for me, except my comp could be a little faster and the audio skips sometimes (it's not a bug, I just suck) anyway... I have been trying to use the TR64 graphics plugin to export or dump the VRML and textures from the game OR from OoT... Whenever I enable VRML and Texture dumping, PJ64 just crashes (normal windows crash - no error message) I don't know why. I'm on windows xp, sp2... fresh format no viruses or anything... Maybe I'm not using the TR64 plugin right... Because I have no idea how it's supposed to be used and I heard a mention about "dumping is really slow" and it wasn't recommended to dump... But I might want to dump... Can anyone link me to where TR64 is explained? Or show me how to use the Texture/VRML export functions for master quest?
