I've experienced some extreme and similar problems with both Vigilante 8 (U) [!] and Vigilante 8: Second Offense (U) [!] dealing with mis-translated 3d windows, alpha channels not recognized and missing backgrounds. I'm pretty sure that this is being caused by Rice's 6.1.1 (beta 10, but all have same effect), but it also happens in all of the other plugins, including Jabo's, that actually show anything. I guess that I am wondering whether this is truly caused by the plugin or the emulator and why, in the first place, these two excellent games have not yet been correctly translated by any current video plugin/emulator.
Rice, I know you've been working your ass off already on the hi-res deal, but if you could possibly find a way to fix the problems (or tell me what I am doing wrong), that would be greatly appreciated.
