DK 64 Speed prob's

First of all, let me thank all of ye who helped me with the bad dump problem (It's solved now thanx to a (f1)(save) dump hidden inside a seamingly healthy one) :doh:

Now i've got a new problem, DK 64 is lagging like hell and sometimes hangs up, is there anyway to fix this??

what are the best settings and plugins for this game?

I don't think there are any "best" settings for DK64. The game is just buggy. Rice mentions some of its unique problems in this thread. That said, I've found it to be smoother in 1964, but not without other problems.
