Better resolution, not so much. Emulation-wise, there isn't much difference. Both are 640x480, but the signal is either interlaced or progressive. These are tied to television signal standards and how the image and is generated there. On a television set, progressive scan usually results in a clearer image and has no line-judder to speak of. Of course, this is entirely a non-issue in emulation, since it has svery little to do with actual television signals.
